lambeth heritage festival: dickens connections in west norwood cemetery

Walk in the footsteps of Charles Dickens who attended the funerals of two of his friends at West Norwood Cemetery, Sir Thomas Talfourd (1854) and Douglas Jerrold (1857). Also interred here are several individuals who played important roles in his life and career - including those who published and illustrated his works.

There are commemorations of over 600 service personnel fatal casualties from the First World War at West Norwood Cemetery. This walking tour by the Frineds of West Norwood Cemetery will include those of civilians, with the aim of discovering what they tell us about the way the war was fought, as well as aspects of the human tragedies involved.

Lambeth Heritage festival: The second World War in West Norwood Cemetery

There are commemorations of 70 service personnel and over 160 civilian fatal casualties from the Second World War at West Norwood Cemetery. The monuments to be visited include those of civilian victims of the Blitz and V1/V2 attacks, and those of service personnel,including prisoners of both the Japanese and Germans.
