London Sustainability Exchange, in partnership with Lambeth Council, has published a comprehensive guide on measures you can take to save money, save energy and live more comfortably. It covers:

Volunteering opportunities

Lambeth Age UK regularly have volunteering opportunities. They are currently seeking volunteers to visit an older person in their home, having a cup of tea and a chat, going out together and helping to alleviate loneliness and isolation (DBS required). Must be 18 or over. Availability required: anytime (includes evenings and weekends).

South Circular - Norwood Road corner: planned development

Developers plan to demolish the corner site at Thurlow Park Road and Norwood Road - opposite the Tulse Hill Hotel to build 43 new homes in a block up to seven storeys high. The proposal for the new block is for eight 3-bedroom homes, twenty seven 2-bedroom homes and eight 2- bedroom homes. 17 of the flats are to be affordable. The Architect’s Journal article on the proposals can be read here.

Norwood and Brixton Foodbank: Annual food collection

The annual Tesco supermarket collection will be on Thursday, 21, Friday, 22 and Saturday 23 November. As usual it will take place at the Streatham and Brixton stores which will generously add an additional 20% to the total amount collected.

Lambeth Young Black Men’s Mental Health Project: November 2019

It is known that young black men often present late to mental health services in Lambeth, therefore South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s Mental health Promotion Team is working in partnership with Black Thrive to change this and improve the wellbeing support that is on offer for Black men in Lambeth.
