Streetworks: update

Streetworks is a unique community-led project to improve Norwood and Tulse Hill.  The project is funded by Transport for London and supported by officers at Lambeth Council.  The Norwood Forum, Tulse Hill Forum, local councillors and community groups are working together with residents, businesses, schools and road-users to design a better space, remove the one-way system at Tulse Hill and provide training and support for future local projects.

West Norwood Library / Cinema Update

At the Norwood Action Group ("NAG") AGM Picturehouse Marketing and Communications Managers were given a rough ride over the length of time the project is taking and the refusal to pay the London Living Wage.  The main updates were:

West Norwood Cemetery: help shape the next Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) bid

Over the past year or Lambeth Council, in partnership with the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery and following public consultation last summer, has developed proposals to conserve and protect the ‘magnificent’ West Norwood Cemetery for future generations. Extensive specialist surveys and consultation were carried out to develop a HLF bid which looks to:

Free cakes!

A new service to provide free birthday cakes to families in Lambeth who would find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child. Its a free, friendly and confidential service. Volunteer bakers are also sought.

Lambeth Council elections on 3 May 2018: No Vote, No Say

Elections will be held on Thursday 3 May to elect all 63 Lambeth Ward Councillors across the 21 wards in our borough. Locally, we will elect three councillors in each ward: Gipsy Hill, Knights Hill and Thurlow Park.

To vote in the Lambeth Council elections, you must be registered to vote. Lambeth Electoral Services wrote to all households recently detailing the names of everyone who is registered. If you did not see this letter, or there were errors or omissions take action now. The deadline to register is Tuesday 17 April 2018.

Peddle My Wheels

A Lambeth Council funded initiative to supply affordable used and new bikes and follow up training to make cycling accessible to everyone is coming to West Norwood Feast on Sunday 1 April. Peddle My Wheels is a business that puts the environment before financial profit.

Buyers: go along and get yourself a serviced, theft-free, affordable bike. You can even pre-order beforehand.

West Norwood Free Film Festival: 48 hour Film Challenge

As part of the West Norwood Free Film Festival 2018, a 48 Hour Film Challenge (WNFFF 48h), open to anyone interested in film-making is to be held. The kick-off event is Friday 13 April 2018.

The shortlisted entries will then be screened at the 48-hour Film Festival Competition Event on Sunday 29 April, held at the Portico Gallery (23B Knight's Hill, SE27 0HS). Winning entries will be judged by a panel of experts in the following categories:
