Lambeth Council has launched Services Worth Fighting For, a campaign calling for central government to properly fund local public services.
The council says its funding has been cut by 30% in real terms since 2010, while demand for services has continued to grow. It says this has contributed to rising costs in areas including temporary accommodation, adult social care and support for children with special educational needs.
Residents are being invited to share their experiences of how funding cuts have affected their communities, and ideas for how local services could be improved.
The campaign will also include a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday 15 October, bringing together residents, service users, workers and grassroots groups to discuss Lambeth’s priorities and the campaign’s asks of government.
