Lambeth’s growing e-bike and e-scooter use brings new challenges – how are operators being held to account?

The e-bike operators Lime, Human Forest and Voi were quizzed by Lambeth councillors for over an hour last month. Watch the discussion here.

Rental e-bikes are very popular in Lambeth, particularly in the Waterloo and South Bank area. One million e-bike and e-scooter journeys were made in Lambeth in June 2026 alone!

TfL (Transport for London) now has new powers to establish a London-wide licensing scheme for rental e-bikes and e-scooters from 2028.

In the meantime, Lambeth has signed an agreement with the three operators to enforce rules around parking in marked road bays, dumped bikes, riders jumping red lights and other issues.
