Meet Author Dola Amodu: The Story Behind Destiny

West Norwood Library is celebrating Black History Month by inviting children to join the Chatterbooks Reading Group and meet author Dola Amodu, whose debut novel Destiny tells the story of Fabunmi, a brave and determined young wrestler. Inspired to become a writer after becoming a grandmother, Dola wanted to create fun and exciting stories for her own grandchildren.

In Destiny, Fabunmi discovers he has a special curse and embarks on an epic adventure. With the help of a tiny fairy named Iwin and his family, he confronts the tricky god Shango, saves all the children and becomes a true hero.

Children aged 7 to 12 are welcome to join for a fun and engaging afternoon. There will also be an opportunity to purchase Dola’s book.

When: Thursday 9 October 2025, 4pm to 5pm
Where: West Norwood Library, 1-5 Norwood High Street, SE27 9JU
