Centrepoint’s Affordable Housing for Young People Approved in Gipsy Hill

Plans for 18 new affordable homes for young people in Gipsy Hill have been approved by Lambeth Council’s Planning Applications Committee. The homes, to be built on a disused car park off Charters Close, are part of a partnership between Lambeth Council and youth homelessness charity Centrepoint. The self contained one bedroom flats will be offered to those aged 18 - 25 in employment, with rents capped at one-third of their income to support the transition from supported housing to independent living.

This project is part of Centrepoint’s Independent Living Programme. Norwood Forum attended the community consultation earlier this year, where residents were invited to view and comment on the proposals. The development will include energy efficient features, such as air source heat pumps, and secure cycle parking. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with completion due in 2027.
