Lambeth Council Launches Public Consultation Amid Major Budget Crisis

Lambeth Council needs to save £183 million over the next four years, equivalent to 40% of its annual budget, and on top of years of cuts to its funding from central government. Councillors have already agreed £99 million in savings, and are seeking our suggestions as to how to find the remaining £84 million.

Most of the council's budget is committed to services it is legally obliged to provide - social care for children and adults, and temporary accommodation for homeless families. So, the cuts will have to come from other services, such as libraries, parks, road maintenance or street cleaning.

These will not be easy decisions. The council wants to hear from residents about our priorities and any ideas we have for how it can save money.

We encourage everyone to take part in this short survey. It will take about 10 minutes. The Forum will also be submitting a response on behalf of our community.
