Mambista - The Latin, African & Jazz Dance Party with Alvorada (Choro) and DJ Gerry Lyseight (ex-GLR/BBC London, Mambo Inn, Mango Landin’).
A wonderful live and recorded music in the magical setting of Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses. If you haven’t been before, now’s the time as this isthe final event of 2025 in the garden for music, food and drink amongst the flowers.
Led by pianist Sara McGuinness, Sarabanda is a musical collective that is always on the money with a glorious mix of Cuban rhythms. Sliding effortlessly between classic, vibrant Cuban Salsa and Son - with serious sabor - by way ofcha cha cha, mambo, and the latest hot Timba, Salsa and Latin Jazz … with a nod to Buena Vista Social Club.
The collective’s obvious love of the music they play is evident in the passionate and exuberant arrangements of both original material and Cuban classics. It also features a host of wonderful musicians steeped in Cuban music and Salsa including bassist Jimmy Martinez and Bill Bland on percussion all led by Sara who has rightly earned a mighty reputation in both the salsa and African music scenes.
Mambista events at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses have become highlights of the summer, described as “magical” with very good reason. BPCG is a beautiful setting, the music - live and recorded - is ‘broader than Broadway’ and always top notch, the food - from Carey's Kitchen - is scrumptious and the events attract sell-out crowds ranging from toddlers to the ‘more mature’.
