Talk and walk: Sir William Tite, architect of the Gothic revival West Norwood Cemetery

This free talk and guided walk will explore the achievements of the architect responsible for the Gothic revival West Norwood Cemetery.

The architect responsible for the South Metropolitan (West Norwood) Cemetery, Sir William Tite (1798-1873), died 150 years ago on 20 April. In this talk Nicholas Long will look at his life and achievements and reflect on some of those of his contemporaries buried in the cemetery followed by a walk to view their memorials.

Please note the tour will not include a visit to the catacombs, where Tite is interred.

Following the talk, there will be a short guided walk back to the main cemetery entrance. This is likely to go off the paved paths and roads and across uneven ground, so please where appropriate footwear.
