Healthwatch Lambeth saved from abolition

The Government has announced that Healthwatch England and local Healthwatch organisations will be retained and strengthened, reversing earlier plans to abolish them.

The decision means that Healthwatch Lambeth will continue as an independent voice for people using health and social care services across the borough, gathering residents' experiences and helping ensure their views influence improvements to local services.

The announcement follows 16 months of uncertainty over the future of the Healthwatch network.

Welcoming the decision, Folake Segun, Chief Executive of Healthwatch Lambeth, thanked everyone who had supported the organisation, adding: "As ever, we are here, open, and working for Lambeth people."
