Lambeth Council has announced a project to seek to improve bus journey times along Norwood Road and the A215 Corridor from just south of the Tulse Hill gyratory up to and including the West Norwood gyratory (Norwood High Street/Ernest Avenue/Knights' Hill) to make services faster and more reliable. This work will be funded through Transport for London’s Bus Priority programme.
The aims include:
- Faster and more reliable bus journeys
- Reduced traffic and improved air quality
- Safer, healthier streets for walking, cycling, and public transport
- Better access to local shops, services, and jobs
The Initial Engagement phase is now underway until 15 February 2026, and your views are sought on issues affecting bus journeys, potential improvements, and any wider changes you would like to see along the corridor. The Council will use feedback alongside data such as bus speeds and traffic counts to develop concept designs, which will be consulted on at a future stage.
Norwood Forum has been using community feedback to put forward suggestions to Lambeth Council and encourage community input into this specific project. These include looking at the West Norwood gyratory holistically, better enforcement of loading bays and renewed calls for the much delayed diagonal road markings at the junction with Yotk Hill/Lancaster Avenue. Bus stop locations, access and broader public realm improvements can all be considered under this scheme.
