A renewables revolution in Norwood?

At COP30, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has talked about a 'renewables revolution'. He said to the conference, "The fossil fuel age is ending. Clean energy is rising. Let us make the transition fair, fast, and final."
Globally, green energy sources accounted for 90 per cent of new power capacity last year, while investment in them reached $2 trillion, or $800 billion more than fossil fuels.
Nationally, our last coal-fired power station was decommissioned in September last year.

And on Monday 10 November 2025 as shown on the National Grid: Live website - see table below - even after the sun had gone done, renewable energy sources were producing over 60% of the UK's energy.

Locally, Repowering London is co-creating renewable energy projects that are led and owned by Londoners and provide direct benefits to them, including cost savings and community investment. It is already working with Brixton Energy and we are inviting them to come and work with Norwood Forum and our community to build a renewables revolution in Norwood.
