MAKE is an inclusive studio space based in West Norwood, specialising in art workshops and creative education for local people. As a Community Interest Company (CIC) and not-for-profit organisation, MAKE is founded on the belief that creativity should be accessible to everyone. The studio embraces the ethos of “art for all”, recognising the many benefits of creative expression and the importance of making visual art available to people from all backgrounds and abilities.
MAKE offers a range of tailored workshops designed to meet the needs of the local community. These include primary after-school sessions, workshops for children with SEND, programmes for home schooled students, and GCSE and A-level portfolio development sessions. The studio also runs Key Stage 3 clubs, adult fine art and photography workshops, and community outreach projects, encouraging creativity at every stage of life.
The studio is run by a husband and wife team, Louise and Jamie, who bring both personal and professional experience to the project. Long-term residents of West Norwood, they have lived in South London for nearly two decades and are raising two sons, aged nine and thirteen. Both hold Fine Art degrees and are practising artists with over eighteen years of experience as secondary school Art and Photography teachers. Their shared commitment to creativity, education, and community lies at the heart of MAKE.
MAKE’s mission is to empower children, young people, and adults through inclusive, creative, and community-focused arts and educational workshops. The studio aims to inspire confidence, nurture skills, and strengthen community connections by providing high-quality, accessible creative experiences - regardless of background or ability. Through consistent engagement, professional delivery, and a deep commitment to social impact, MAKE fosters personal growth, wellbeing, and a lifelong love of learning and creativity.
