Norwood Forum would like to mark the start of COP30 in Brazil today with a good news story from our local neighbourhood relating to the Transport for London's (TfL) Travel for Life programme.
The number of Lambeth schools who have been awarded gold in the ‘Travel for Life’ programme has doubled from eight to sixteen and those achieving bronze from four to fourteen according to this story in Love Lambeth published last week. We would particularly like to congratulate Rosendale Primary School who won gold in September 2024 and Rosemead Preparatory School who were awarded the same gold recognition recently in September 2025.
Katy Heald, who has two boys at Rosendale School and is part of ‘Solve the School Run Rosendale’ said:
‘The TFL gold star award reflects a lot of work from the parent community and effort from the school on continuing to promote active travel. The children regularly hear about the benefits of walking and cycling to school - which is great to see’!
Simone Rutterman, mother of two Rosemead children and a parent rep of ‘West Dulwich Safe Routes to School’ commented:
‘I have been a Rosemead parent since 2017, and in the last few years have seen the number of kids walking and wheeling to school literally explode. This has coincided with some road safety improvements around the school. A lot of work still has to be done to build a whole network of safe routes, but for me this has shown the importance of safe infrastructure in giving parents and their kids the confidence to travel under their own steam and build life-long healthy habits’.
Norwood Forum would also like to recognise all other schools in our local area who are making great progress on this scheme, with several well on their way to silver and gold awards.
More information can be found via the below link where you can also see the progress of your school and get involved in initiatives that promote safe, sustainable and active journeys to school.
