Charles Bravo was killed at his house in Balham and buried in West Norwood Cemetery in 1876. The police investigation and subsequent court case scandalised Victorian society, and over the years his murder has been the subject of investigation in books, newspaper articles and TV programmes (including a Lady Killers investigation by Lucy Worsley).
