Free live music returns to the Crystal Palace Park bowl with three special Thursday shows. Huge space, no need to reserve tickets, arrive early to get the best spot.

Crystal Palace Festival is partnering with South Facing Festival and the Crystal Palace Park Trust this August to bring you the best in emerging and local talent each Thursday during the festival. And tonight's concert is brought in conjunction with local record label Albert's Favourites to programme an evening of the most soulful music in south London:

Albert’s Favourites

9:00pm Andrew Ashong, the British Ghanian singer songwriter from Forest Hill headlines an evening curated by Crystal Palace based label Albert’s Favourites. In the words of Paul Lester of the Guardian, Andrew is “a hazy, jazzy dreamer of a young soul rebel who in his music references Roy Ayers and Shuggie Otis, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye”.

7:45pm Hector Plimmer – dreamy and beautiful electronic beat explorations that play with jazz and soul music equally

6:45pm Magnetic Tape Device – a journey through improvised musical spaces blending trombone, drums, and electronic sounds

6:00pm Sawa Manga – a thoughtful and bass-heavy ethereal liminal experience of blue flame, bump and sway

5:30pm Albert’s Favourites DJs – Adam Scrimshire, Jonny Drop and Dave Koor

Doors at 5:30pm; curfew at 10:00pm.
