Norwood Forum Chair - Susan de Swarte

After a short illness, Susan de Swarte passed away suddenly on Saturday 17 March at home.

We remember Susan as a community stalwart who dedicated much of her time to the people and places of the Norwood community. Never shy of voicing an opinion, her campaigning zeal will be greatly missed by friends and family and her wider local networks.

Susan was always willing and able to get involved in myriad strands of work, leading the Norwood Forum through a difficult re-organisation, championing the neighbourhoods of West Norwood and Upper Norwood with vigour, and lately playing a considerable hand in discussions about the future of a local library service and the Nettlefold Hall.

She leaves a daughter, of whom she was inordinately proud, and will be joining her husband at rest. She missed him greatly since his passing a few years ago, as we will now miss her genuine concern for people (and their pets, or their children, or their own causes), her wicked giggle, and her irrepressible good nature.
